Izmir Cotton: A Stray Dog’s Iconic Journey

Every white curly-haired dog photographed in Izmir Kordon was someone else; but in the early 2010s, one became iconic. His name was Pamuk — the common dog of the street, perhaps of all Izmir. He didn’t have an owner, but he had thousands of friends. Here is the story of a stray dog, etched into the memory of a city — at 10 stops.

1Cotton started as a puppy that no one knows about.

Early memories speak of a small white puppy lying in front of a grocery store on the edge of Kemeraltı in Konak in the early 2011s. It is unknown who left her, where her mother went.
