The chart on the pet food bag is written for an average rabbit — your rabbit's individual needs (spaying, activity, season) may differ. Our calculation is more personalized because it takes 6+ parameters into account.
How many meals should I split per day?
For puppies (<6 months) 3-4 meals are recommended, for juveniles (6 months-2 years) 2-3 meals, for adults 2 meals, and for seniors 2-3 small meals. Feeding only once a day can cause nausea and swallowing problems.
Should I calculate water amount separately?
Yes — pets eating dry food need 50-70ml of water daily per kilogram. For those eating wet food, this figure is 30% lower (water is in the food). Add +50% on hot days and after exercise.
How long should the transition period be when changing diet?
The new pet food should be mixed with the old one for a gradual 7-day transition: days 1-2 25% new, days 3-4 50%, days 5-6 75%, day 7 100%. Otherwise, intestinal issues may occur.
Is it harmful to switch pet food brands often?
Constantly changing brands disrupts your rabbit's gut flora. Sticking with the same brand for 6+ months is ideal. If you must switch brands, follow the 7-day transition protocol above.
