What is BCS (Body Condition Score)?

BCS 1-3 (Underweight): Ribs visible, waist prominent, abdomen tucked. Needs to gain weight.Ribs are visible, waist is prominent, belly is sunken. Needs to gain weight.
BCS 4-5 (Ideal): Ribs are easily felt, waist is visible from above. This is the target range.
BCS 6-7 (Overweight): Ribs are hard to feel, waist is unclear. Portion control and exercise should begin.
BCS 8-9 (Obese): Ribs cannot be felt, belly is sagging. High health risk — a vet checkup is essential.
